In early October 2008, First Nations Development Institute worked with the Three Affiliated Tribes of the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation and the Office of the Special Trustee to provide financial education to tribal membership. Recently, tribal members on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation have been receiving royalty payments for oil and gas exploration, and there has been a growing demand for information about how to best manage these funds. FNDI worked in partnership with the OST and the MHA tribal leadership to provide customized financial education for individuals receiving large lump sum payments.
