First Nations Development Institute Internship Program

First Nations Development Institute (FNDI) is a Native economic development organization located in Fredericksburg, Virginia. First Nations was founded in 1980 with the mission to assist Native communities in controlling their assets and in building capacity to direct their economic future. Our programs and strategies focus on assisting tribes and Native communities to control, create, leverage, utilize, and retain their assets.

FNDI periodically provides unpaid internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students. These competitive internships are opportunities to learn more about FNDI’s work in the field of community economic development, agriculture and food, banking and finance, and other areas. FNDI internships provide hands-on opportunities for research that makes a difference and experience in building relationships in Native communities. Interns will not simply make copies and file papers; they will be asked to perform complex research and writing tasks.
