Lisa Yellow Eagle
Program Officer
Navajo/Lakota

Lisa joined First Nations as a Program Officer in October 2012. She administers projects focused on capacity- and asset-building in Indian Country. She manages projects focused on strengthening tribal economies through education, strengthening tribal and Native institutions through peer learning and model development, and projects that provide technical assistance to various groups throughout the U.S.

She is enrolled in the Navajo Tribe and has family living in the Navajo Nation and the Rosebud Sioux Reservation. Lisa received her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Colorado Law School in 2008, where she focused her studies on Federal Indian Law. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2002, with a major in English Literature and a minor in Ethnic Studies.

Prior to joining First Nations, Lisa was a practicing attorney, with previous work experience at the District Attorney’s Office as well as two private practice firms where she focused on Federal Indian Law. Lisa is the treasurer for the Colorado Indian Bar Association.
