Director of Programs, Stewarding Native Lands

The Director of Programs is instrumental in guiding the direction and strategy of the emerging Stewarding Native Lands Program. The Director will work to advocate on behalf of Tribal communities and engage in critical conversation and research to advance Tribal ecological stewardship and natural resources management in Indian Country. This position will build on existing partnerships and projects in addition to engaging new partners and stakeholders to generate new opportunities and investments in Indian Country.

Grants Officer

The Grants Officer plays an essential role in all First Nations’ grantmaking activities as well as assisting program officers with oversight of community grant partners. Primary responsibilities include overseeing the administration and implementation of First Nations’ grantmaking activities, managing First Nations’ grantmaking database, and working with program officers and others to ensure First Nations’ programs are following policies, procedures and best practices in all aspects of grantmaking.

Office Manager

As part of First Nations’ administrative team, the Officer Manager is a responsible, energetic, self-motivated problem solver. The position is responsible for managing and supporting administrative office duties that include shipping and mailings, coordination and support of in-person and virtual meetings, management of remote offices in California and New Mexico, purchase requests, equipment maintenance, management of off-site storage, management of First Nations’ library, office site maintenance, and other administrative tasks.

Program Associate – Stewarding Native Lands

The Program Associate assists and supports Program Officers and the Director of Programs in the administration and implementation of First Nations’ Stewarding Native Lands Program. Additional responsibilities include contributing to Indigenous land stewardship and environmental justice conversations, coordinating technical assistance and training, participating in onsite visits, and performing grantee communications, grant management, and monitoring of consultant work that may include developing consultant agreements, monitoring deliverables, performing data entry, and organizing files.

Program Officer – Nourishing Native Foods & Health

The Program Officer assists and supports Senior Program Officers and the Director of Programs in the administration and implementation of First Nations’ Nourishing Native Foods & Health projects. Additional responsibilities include thoughtful contributions to Indigenous food and agriculture conversations, coordination of technical assistance and training, participation in onsite visits, grantee communications, grant management, and monitoring of consultant work.
