Given the current climate situation, many institutions and non-Native people are now looking to Native communities for solutions. Meaningful participation and planning efforts that are informed by cultural values and Indigenous knowledge can address adaptation gaps and lead to more sustainable outcomes and benefits, and upholding relationships to the land reflect the cultural connection between identity and stewardship.
The report highlights projects supported through the Climate Resiliency in Indian Country grant program and aims to bring attention to the disproportionate impacts of climate change on Native communities and highlights examples of community-led climate action that addresses the impacts of climate change.
