First Nations’ Legacy Society is for donors and supporters who include First Nations in their wills, trusts, charitible giving plans, or donor-advised funds. Legacy Society members are honored every year in our Annual Report Supplement.
To help you get started on your plans and legacy, First Nations has invested in FreeWill, an online tool that guides you through many planned giving options.
Will or Trust
In creating a will or trust, or designating First Nations as a beneficiary in your will or trust, you can use this resource on its own, or use it to document your wishes before finalizing your plans with an attorney.
Have you already included a gift in your will or trust? Please fill out this form to let us know! We would love to thank you for your generosity.
Non-Probate Assets
IRA or 401(k) accounts and life-insurance policies are non-probate assets, which must be assigned to beneficiaries separately. Use this online tool to make your plans and designate First Nations as a beneficiary of one or more of these assets.
Donor Advised Funds
Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) are investment accounts for the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations.
FreeWill’s DAF tool integrates with your DAF custodian automatically, and saves you the extra step of notifying us about your gift. In addition, using the tool, you can:
- Recommend how you’d like your grant to be allocated
- Communicate your wishes to First Nations
- Share the details of your DAF grant
- Make your grant recommendation

Qualified Charitable Distributions
If you are 70.5 or older, giving from your IRA helps reduce your taxable income. And, for those over 73 who must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), an IRA gift is a simple way to fulfill it. When you donate from your IRA, this tool can be used to track your gift and send you the appropriate receipt.
