First Nations' ProgramsFirst Nations Development Institute believes that when armed with the appropriate resources, Native Peoples hold the capacity and ingenuity to ensure the sustainable, economic, spiritual and cultural well-being of their communities. We invest in and create innovative institutions and models that strengthen asset control and support economic development for American Indian people and their communities. First Nations helps to improve economic conditions for Native Americans through technical assistance & training, advocacy & policy, and direct financial grants in five key areas. First Nations' Grantmaking ProgramFirst Nations Development Institute’s grantmaking program provides both financial and technical resources to tribes and Native nonprofit organizations to support asset-based development efforts. This map illustrates our grants for approximately the past 12 months. Founded in 1980, First Nations began its national grantmaking program in 1993. Since then, we have provided 18.9 million in grants to 814 Native programs and projects in 36 states. | |
