To support retention of the Micmac language and traditions absent or lost over time and strengthen relationships between youth and Elders BGCPI will hire a part-time Coordinator to leverage existing relationships and resources within our community to implement educational sessions and events to engage Elders and youth.

The ultimate purpose is to retain the knowledge of preserving and strengthening cultural practices and to give back to our youth a sense of belonging with their cultural identity; and create a program that will implement the youth and community and tribal elder involvement to help bolster intergenerational learning, as well as act as a catalyst for culture, language, and leadership. This project will help to blend together and negotiate relationships built on teamwork and balance providing for a more coherent basis for revitalization, and more importantly, let us understand clearly that youth are vital in restoring traditional cultural practices.
