The Keya Foundation

The primary goal of this professional development mini-grant is to enable The Keya Foundation to more efficiently and effectively calculate, track, and communicate nonprofit financial activity, thereby allowing Keya’s staff to spend more time on program work and less time on day-to-day financial management.

This project will increase the capacity of the entire Cheyenne River arts community through building a stronger network of support organizations and artists. This project will also leverage current programs through creating a resource center to have consistent support for artists and arts organization.

Participation in this training will help to increase the capacity of The Keya Foundation's fundraising strategies and help to fully support the Arts Economy on the Cheyenne River.

This project will create a stronger community within the artists on the Cheyenne River Reservation through the mentorship style educational meetings. This project will increase the knowledge base for the emerging artist to grow their own art business. This project will utilize current programs to expand the art economy.

The project will increase the financial accounting and inventory knowledge and capacity of the Lakota Cultural Center's Supply Store and Gift Shop.

The Ultimate Purpose of the project is to 1) Create a stronger arts economy through Coalition building including the support of businesses & Organizations as well as the tribal government system, and 2) Utilize the current Lakota Artistry Cooperative program in a more effective and efficient way in order to better support the individual Lakota Artists as well as support the Local Arts Economy, and 3) Increase the availability of resources to the local Arts Community. This project will help to provide a stronger, healthier Arts Economy as a whole, as well as providing educational resources to the individual Artists.
