Wichita and Affiliated Tribes

The purpose of the SummerSmart: Wichita Summer Youth Program is to built tribal pride through teaching Wichita history and culture, to teach good health practices, and teach sound financial responsibility. Youth participants also will gain income for their personal needs. Up to five tribal teens will serve as interns assisting in educational, artistic and physical activities for at least 12 tribal youth. Under adult staff supervision, students will work with cultural experts to learn Wichita language, art and history; tribal professionals on health, safety and nutrition; and economics professionals to gain knowledge and experience in basic financial planning and expertise.
