Hunt On, Fish On, Gather On

Update on GATHER!

After several hundred downloads and thousands of DVDs requested and mailed to grantees of First Nations’ Native Arts Initiative and Native Agriculture & Food Systems Initiative, the film GATHER is resonating with audiences.

“The Red Willow family wants to express gratitude to First Nations Development Institute for their donation of copies of GATHER,” posted Tiana Suazo, executive director of the Red Willow Center in Taos Pueblo, NM, on the center’s Instagram page. “We highly recommend everyone to watch Gather!! It is a great view into Indigenous food pathways and how the culture is fighting for a positive change for the future generation.”

GATHER is an intimate portrait of the growing movement among Native Americans in the aftermath of centuries of genocide to ensure the health, strength and future of Native communities. The film is the result of a three-year collaboration between First Nations and award-winning director Sanjay Rawal. Hawaiian actor and activist Jason Momoa and production partner, Brian Mendoza, are executive producers.

The film received top downloads on iTunes this fall and continues to be part of the regenerative agriculture and precious land and resources conversations across the country. The film also received Best Documentary Film Feature during the 25th Annual Red Nation International Film Festival last month.

We will have a major announcement coming next year about the film. Learn more about the film at www.nativefoodsystems.org.
