Description
The Tending the Wild: Junior Class, project will help youth retain traditional, cultural knowledge related to Indigenous Stewardship methods and basketweaving. Activities will include, the identification and gathering of basketry materials through three outdoor field trip, cultural history talks with Siskiyou and Del Norte County elders, and hands-on weaving workshops.

Description
The ultimate purpose of the "Awl Yeah" program is to 1) Increase the knowledge base in tribal youth as it relates to the gathering, preparation, and storage of traditional basketweaving materials, and 2) Increase the amount of tribal youth involvement in traditional basketweaving activities while providing for inter-generational learning opportunities. This project will aid CIBA to create a new program to engage youth in basketweaving activities, increase the amount of tribal youth involved in basketweaving, retain traditional basketweaving knowledge for future generations, and leverage and expand on CIBA's current Youth Initiative activities by expanding our current social media presence.
