This project will result in the creation and delivery of a reservation-wide Food Assessment to assess the current state of Hopi food and farming practices. We will leverage the resulting data to support the development of a collaborative action plan to measurably increase food sovereignty over the next ten years.

This project will help to retain the Hopi and Tewa language in order to increase the number of Hopi and Tewa youth that speak the Hopi and Tewa languages while increasing the participation and understanding of cultural knowledge among Hopi and Tewa youth by leveraging local elders in the community.

This program will document the knowledge, language, historical events and stories that define community intellectuals in Hopi historical and contemporary figures. This knowledge, still only available through oral tradition and social customary practice and has broad implications for how we approach community development and social change in our philanthropic work.
