The ultimate purpose of our application is to increase access, participation, and utilization of Anishinaabe-led and centered supportive pregnancy care and birthing practices through the integration of Anishinaabe birth workers.

The main goal of the midwifery fund is to increase access to out-of-hospital birth services for Native families. We can do this by funding midwives and doulas serving Native families and covering associated costs for families (food, transportation, supplements, etc) and by referring families to existing community resources.

Covid-19 Response

Training the museum’s board and staff on basketry and cultural items preservation.

Support for cultural demonstrators’ honorariums at the museum’s 50th Annual Indian Fair Day.

Conducting assessment which inform the management of Blues Beach.

This program will prepare Tribal and Latinx youth for entry-level green and conservation jobs that are common to the Lower Colorado River and frequently filled by people from outside the community. To leverage this training all graduates of the program will have preferential hiring at CRIT’s natural resource departments.
