First Nations is happy to share news from 2025 Luce Indigenous Knowledge Fellow Lynn Mad Plume. As part of her fellowship, Dr. Mad Plume has been working toward a vision of building a global Indigenous horse coalition. She writes, “This kind of collective effort has never been done before, and it’s something I believe is deeply needed to strengthen our shared knowledge, cultural practices, and collective impact.” Dr. Mad Plume’s organization, White Rider Healing Ranch (Two Powers Land Collective), was recently selected for the 2026 Horses for Mental Health Campaign, a global initiative that uplifts the role of horses in mental health, bringing together leading organizations to raise awareness, share stories of impact, and expand access to equine-assisted services.
