Celebrating Resilience and History with Poeh Cultural Center
Last month, the 2026 Cohort of First Nations’ Luce Indigenous Knowledge Fellowship enjoyed a preview of a new exhibit at community partner Poeh Cultural Center, “Gi Kay Nambí Ówingeh Gi Weh Pówá.” The now-permanent exhibit at Pueblo of Pojoaque in New Mexico honors the pottery of Pojoaque and celebrates resilience, history, and homecoming.
Poeh Cultural Center explains how the pottery was collected in 1903 and held in museums for generations before coming home through repatriation from the University of California, Berkeley, and an ethical return from the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
First Nations was honored to support this journey home, and we’re looking forward to attending the Exhibition Opening tonight. Thank you, Poeh Cultural Center for your commitment to this work and for welcoming our Luce Indigenous Knowledge Fellows to the preview. Learn more about the exhibit here.
