For the past 20 years, the Southern Ute Tribe has been visited by a pair of ospreys that return annually to Lake Capote to nest, fish, and care for new babies. Since 2017, the tribe has captured their activity through a webcam installed in their nest. With support from First Nations, the tribe has invested in an improved nest location and livestream to help increase community participation and engagement with the ospreys. Check out their latest activity!

Also, through our Advancing Tribal Nature-Based Solutions project, we’re supporting the tribe in enhancing riverine processes, expanding riparian habitat, reducing pollution, improving water quality, and strengthening tribal climate resiliency. Learn more!
