Community Partner Spotlight: Osage Nation has a Sweet Week 

The Osage Nation Natural Resource Department has been working for the past year to increase pollinator habitat across the reservation to create a sustainable tallgrass prairie ecosystem that will expand biodiversity, reduce erosion, and build adaptive capacity in response to climate change. The Nation’s apiary expansion, coupled with Native plant reintroduction, is creating healthy pollinator habitat that will benefit plant and animal relatives. These efforts have a bonus – honey. Staff have been busy harvesting honey from the apiary and are expecting to extract approximately 14 gallons of “liquid gold.” Harvested honey will be sold at Osage Nation’s working farm, Harvest Land.
