Advancing Youth Development in Indian Country

With an investment of $1,600,000 over two years from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI), First Nations is supporting Native-led, community-driven programs that focus on the holistic well-being and positive sense of self of Native youth.

In this project – launched in early 2021 – First Nations will build on its Investing in Native Youth program, increasing efforts to support communities at the intersection of Native language perpetuation and cultural knowledge development, including partners in First Nations’ Native Language Immersion Initiative.

This support will come in the form of grants, technical assistance, and training to multiple Native youth-serving organizations for programs and services that strengthen education, mental health, and positively develop identity and esteem of Native youth.

Funding for the project is part of CZI’s $7 million commitment to help advance racial equity as well as Tribal identity and support student mental wellness in communities most impacted by COVID-19. Learn more about the grant award here.
