Community-Led Conservation of Native American Farms and Grasslands

Under our Stewardship Initiative, First Nations is growing community capacity to sustainably manage and restore lands for future generations. The Community-Led Conservation of Native American Farms and Grasslands project centers Native peoples committed to uplifting cultural practices and value systems essential to stewardship and conservation. This project builds on First Nations’ Native Farmer and Rancher Apprenticeship Network by further investing in Native farmers and young natural resource professionals.

Through this project, First Nations supports two distinct cohorts: the Young Natural Resource Professionals Cohort and the Native Farmer Professional Cohort. Each cohort will provide the opportunity for members to ground their work in traditional knowledge, receive technical support to advance their stewardship and conservation goals, and build community and a strong support network with their peers.
