Nanebah (Diné), joined First Nations as a Senior Program Officer for the Stewarding Native Lands team in July 2026. Nanebah comes to this role with over 17 years of experience in cultural and environmental preservation, tribal engagement, and policy development. In her previous position with the U.S. Forest Service, she created multiple sustainable co-stewardship programs with tribes. She brings knowledge of partnership building, training development and implementation, project management, research, and complex facilitation. Nanebah also has extensive experience working with tribal elders and knowledge keepers to document traditional cultural knowledge and oral history.

In her role as a Senior Program Officer, Nanebah supports the Stewarding Native Lands team with the implementation of projects and programmatic strategy and leadership for projects under the Climate and Stewardship focus areas. She has a Master of Arts in sociocultural anthropology with an emphasis in Native American studies from Arizona State University. She currently resides in Flagstaff, Arizona, where she spends her free time enjoying the woods and nature with her husband and puppies.
