Offering Credit Counseling and Debt Management will give tribal members a vital tool in making successful lifelong choices. Our vision at the Housing Authority is to educate each and every one of our tribal members and tenants the importance of Credit and Budgeting, and how to take responsibility when it comes to paying personal bills, utilities, and rent. Our ultimate goal getting our tribal members to own and purchase a home, having a staff member trained and HUD certified will discontinue the process of having an outside source educate tribal members and give us the responsibility to do it in-house.

The program purpose and goal is to provide the tools, training, education and knowledge to our citizens to prevent foreclosure. This program grant will allow us to meet the program purpose of helping our citizens to achieve the goal of foreclosure prevention.

The purpose of the SummerSmart: Wichita Summer Youth Program is to built tribal pride through teaching Wichita history and culture, to teach good health practices, and teach sound financial responsibility. Youth participants also will gain income for their personal needs. Up to five tribal teens will serve as interns assisting in educational, artistic and physical activities for at least 12 tribal youth. Under adult staff supervision, students will work with cultural experts to learn Wichita language, art and history; tribal professionals on health, safety and nutrition; and economics professionals to gain knowledge and experience in basic financial planning and expertise.

The ultimate purpose is to 1) retain our keres language and traditional culture for our future generations can continue the traditional way of life by speaking the keres language and participating in our cultural/traditional activities (i.e. dancing, farming, preserving the language) and 2) it will significantly increase self-confidence and self-identity in our youth. So, therefore, this project will assist us to leverage & expand communication and bridge the gaps between elders and our younger generation.

The ultimate purpose of this project is to support community health and wellness on the Navajo Nation through public education, public awareness and advocacy. This project will implement a multi-media campaign to educate and create awareness of legislation impacting community health by targeting specific chapter community members, delegates, and the public.

Increase Native youth financial literacy through culturally-appropriate financial education classes and experiential learning opportunities such as the Crazy Cash City financial reality fair and youth savings accounts.
