Last month, the Pueblo of Santa Ana’s Department of Natural Resources held their annual Santa Ana Youth Hands On Hydrology or SAY H2O program. Now in its 15th year, the program strengthens connection to land, water, and community by engaging Pueblo youth in hands-on experiences and land-based learning about the water cycle, agricultural practices, wildlife populations, traditional plant identification and uses, and the Keres language.

Through our Stewarding Native Lands program, First Nations has supported the Pueblo of Santa Ana’s SAY H2O program since 2024. We were honored to work in partnership with the tribe to create a video capturing the importance of this youth summer program and how, from their beginnings, they integrated traditional knowledge and modern science to teach Pueblo youth stewardship values and practices. Watch ‘Where Water Remembers: The Say H2O Legacy’ here.
