Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Indian Energy announced a $50 million notice of funding opportunity to foster affordable, reliable, and secure energy solutions in Indian Country. On October 22, 2026, the department reported it received requests exceeding 10 times the amount of funding available and awarded over $125 million in funding support for 63 tribal-led projects spanning 16 states and 61 tribal entities.
First Nations congratulates the selected awardees, including Atautchikun, Blackfeet Community College, and Little Big Horn College, who received technical assistance to apply for the funding through First Nations’ Strengthening Tribal Renewable Energy Opportunities project.
