Through a competitive RFP process, First Nations awarded six grants of $125,000 and technical assistance to tribes in the Great Plains Region to promote tribal co-stewardship of National Grasslands. This grant provides tribes with resources to build the necessary capacity to negotiate, implement, and monitor co-stewardship agreements, which will promote grassland heath and connectivity.
This work is made possible through generous support from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (with funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Forest Service) and the Doris Duke Foundation.
