Food Sovereignty Program

The Ultimate purpose is to 1) Secure access to Yurok Ancestral Lands , 2) Increase engagement with federal entities to participate in decision making processes that significantly affect our ancestral land stewardship and cultural perpetuation activities, and 3) create new and expand existing collaboration with the USFS and other entities that provides opportunities for multiple partners.

Building Digital Technology Capacity in Native American Communities

This project will bring together historical and current land, environmental, and Yurok people centered data together to demonstrate change over time to inform land restoration and access within Yurok ancestral lands.

COVID-19 Response

The Yurok First Foods Planning Project will utilize existing program partnerships to create the framework needed to implement a program that will increase traditional food access as first foods and allow for leveraging of funding for full program implementation.

This project will allow us to increase our ability to distribute fresh produce to the residents of the Yurok Indian Reservation (YIR) by allowing us to better utilize existing infrastructure and expand our capacity to accept fruit, vegetable, and potentially egg and diary donations from local producers.

Yurok Cultural Burn Mapping for Food Sovereignty support

This project will provide much-needed support to the newly founded Yurok Tribe Food Sovereignty Division to create new programs and leverage additional funding by allocating staff time for grant research and application preparation, as well as increase community and tribal member participation in determining program priorities through outreach.
