Blackfeet Community College

This project will create a strategy that reflects traditional values and concepts to advance BCC's goal to become a net zero campus and strengthen institutional capacity. This project will also restore Iinii (bison) and native grasslands while integrating Piikani Knowledge into workforce training.

This Beaver Pond Levelers project will restore and conserve wetland and riparian habitats, strengthen biodiversity, and support sustainable beaver populations. The project promotes long-term coexistence between humans and beavers through non-lethal management practices.

This project will revive a long-standing program that connects students to the landscape through traditional knowledge, highlighting its past and present uses. This work fosters cultural and physical ties to the land while supporting pathways to college for future generations.

This project will allow Blackfeet Community College to host community-based gatherings to envision goals around management and stewardship of buffalo. Through community advisory students will complete the buffalo infrastructure so that buffalo can be reintroduced on campus.

Blackfeet Community College is currently working on becoming a net zero campus. We have 5 buildings run by solar energy. The other project is a Meat Processing Plant and certification. The meat will be processed, wrapped and distributed to food banks and elders in the community.

BCC Workforce Development will increase awareness of organizational capacity in alternative/renewable energy through training needs of the community. Workforce Development proposes to have meetings with the community to assess what is needed in curriculum. This will increase opportunities for jobs.

Blackfeet Community College Workforce Development will partner with renewable energy and tribal college professionals to develop a 2-week solar training program through the First Nations Renewable Energy grant. One partner, has provided a quote to provide two (2) hands-on trainings for 20 BCC students at the cost of $69,964.34.
