Funding Opportunity for Advancing Affordable, Reliable, and Secure Energy for Tribes

May 15, 2026. The U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Indian Energy Policy and Programs has announced a $50 million notice of funding opportunity to foster affordable, reliable, and secure energy solutions in Indian Country. Through the Unleashing Tribal Energy Development funding opportunity, tribes (including Alaska Native regional corporations and village corporations, tribal and intertribal organizations, tribal energy development organizations, and tribal colleges and universities) can apply for funding to advance Tribal Sovereignty through tribal energy development, efficiency, and use.
