Lead Program Officer, Native Agriculture and Food Systems Investments

Ethan Gallegos joined First Nations in 2021 as a Program Coordinator for the Nourishing Native Foods & Health program. In this role, he assisted in the administration and implementation of First Nations’ Native agriculture and food systems projects. In 2022, he was promoted to Program Officer and then Lead Program Officer.

Ethan came to First Nations from Washington State University Vancouver, where he worked with the the Food System Justice Action Research project.  As a program coordinator and then project manager, Ethan was responsible for conducting community outreach, hosting wisdom councils and webinars, and applying for and managing grant funding. While at Washington State University Vancouver, he also established a BIPOC student-led food system council and launched the Water to Wyam project to bring clean water infrastructure to the Wyam tribal fishing villages.

Ethan has a Bachelor of Science in earth and environmental studies from Washington State University Vancouver, and an associate of science degree from Clark College in Vancouver, Washington.
