Connect the Disconnect will create enrichment opportunities for Native youth. Throughout the program Native youth will utilize Mvskoke cultural practices to build resilience, to connect with Mvskoke elders’ knowledge and practices and to increase cultural practices among peers.

This project will retain Dine' language through daily 50% Dine' language immersion for 3 through 5 year old children and a 6 day Dine' language immersion camp for children in grades 1-8. It will also increase effective immersion instruction through ongoing mentorship of teachers by a Dine language immersion specialist.

This project will utilize the Migiziinsag program to help retain the Ojibwe language within the KBIC community and to increase classroom use by preparing our teachers, families, and the community with language learning opportunities.

Our project's aim is to retain traditional knowledge about healthy food and lifestyles, and to increase knowledge and participation among urban native youth in the reclamation and celebration of these assets and resources. Youth will produce six 5-minute videos and companion resources to distribute to schools, individuals and organizations.

The ultimate purpose of this project is to assist Cochiti, Santa Ana, and Zia Pueblos on creating ways to help revitalize and retain their cultural identity and heritage. The existing Headstart curriculum and the implementation of culturally appropriate activities will support children’s learning to increase awareness, showcasing their cultural beliefs.
