Toli Tate (she/her) joined First Nations’ Stewarding Native Lands team in July 2024 as a Program Associate. She is from Portland, Oregon, and is a citizen of the Navajo Nation.
Toli received her bachelor’s degree from Stanford University where she studied Anthropology with a focus on Native American Studies and Environmental Anthropology. Toli has enjoyed working in spaces that allow her to be immersed in communities and connect with community members. In Portland, she interned for the City of Portland’s Tribal Relations Office, worked at a local bead store, and interned at a Native-owned herbarium. Most recently, Toli worked as an Arts Center resources team member and Community Residential Assistant at Stanford, where she helped organize events centered on Native community and Environmental Justice.
Throughout her educational and professional career, Toli has been passionate about being involved in advocacy for Native peoples’ access to and stewardship of their homelands.
In her free time, Toli enjoys hiking, swimming, learning new crafts, and spending time with family, friends, and their pets.
