The ultimate purpose of this project is to: 1) create a greenhouse that is certified and capable of growing vegetables throughout the cold weather months for the school lunch program; and 2) significantly increase the amount of locally and organically grown vegetables that are served to students in the school lunch program; and 3) create a manual that will show other reservation schools how to do something similar in their own schools. Finally, it is our goal to produce a documentary short film by students showing how students are involved in growing their won food throughout the winter.

The purpose of this project is to 1) Utilize a former DNR Intern or Summer youth employee as a supervisor; 2) Increase the opportunities offered college student interns; 3) Create a support system for students seeking natural resource degrees by linking them with professional mentors. Also, to create and utilize a tribal networking relationship with the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe in various natural resource areas. We will also assist them by developing a presentation of STOI's structure for DNR staff development this includes STEM introduction from (K-12), Summer Youth Program (14-18) and the DNR Internship Program (College Students)

At the Navajo Nation Council Session of April 2013, DCAA will seek passage of the Navajo tax resolution on sweetened sugar drinks and junk foods to reduce the purchase and consumption of these no value foods and drinks; in addition to revenues generated will be distributed to Navajo communities for wellness projects owned and developed by the local Navajo people.

The purpose of this project it to create a system of training that will give native owned businesses and entreprenuers that extra investment in their business that will increase their profits and make them more successful. Currently neither Native CDFIs or native owned businesses have the time or resource to provide or attend training that will improve important aspects of their business. This project will serve to do this.

The ultimate purpose of this project is to 1) increase the amount and type of educational opportunities available for students at the CMN and for other small business owners located on and around the Menominee Indian Reservation in Wisconsin, and 2) to increase access to capital for the individuals that participate in the classes being offered.

The goal is to create opportunities for tribal college students, and tribal community members, to access training from the local tribal college, as well as customized follow up technical assistance, and a loan, if necessary from the Lummi CDFI to start up or expand a business. This will promote growth of the private sector businesses within the Lummi Nation and surrounding tribal communities.
