The Yakama Nation Museum’s will host a series of classes that highlights and focuses on the tradition and art of our people. time. We desire to rejuvenate classes that were halted by the COVID-19 pandemic. YNM requests $24,598 to create an in-person classroom environment where presenters can deliver the history.

The Pueblo of Laguna Cultural Enrichment Program aims to preserve the traditions and customs of the Pueblo and the local community by supporting local artists and providing opportunities for community members to engage in traditional arts, crafts, cooking, and language learning.

Field to Basket will spotlight the intersection of art and agriculture while sustaining Haudenosaunee cultural heritage. By leveraging traditional basket making as an asset for education, and intergenerational knowledge transfer, we will fortify basketry’s role and relevance in contemporary Haudenosaunee life.

Through the Two Rivers-Many Generations Project, we seek to increase capacity in the community by providing opportunities for 45 Native youth and young adults to work directly with Native elders and artists to learn traditional arts skills, and to retain these lessons through digital documentation and sharing.

This project will support elder artists and share traditional knowledge of basketmaking, beading, singing, drumming, and mural arts with 40-120 tribal youth in order to nurture the next generation of traditional arts in Warm Springs. The project will create short films that capture and tell important tribal arts stories/knowledge.

We would like to convert our main garden area into raised beds. These changes will make this space more accessible to our community members, especially, those in wheelchairs, walkers, and strollers. We also are installing a handicapped accessible bathroom near the events area.

Project purpose is to pass on traditional arts and cultural knowledge, skills, practices; teach skills of entrepreneurship; create and exhibit original Native artworks; increase awareness of Warm Springs cultures within both Tribal and non-Tribal communities; and leverage through project visibility ongoing support from donors and foundations for Museum projects.

This project will increase the continuation of knowledge about the history of our Cahuilla culture by teaching participants about our traditional pottery and basket weaver legends who have created a pathway through the arts forum. Participants will learn how to utilize skills to leverage the opportunities in the economic space.

Our purpose is to create an art exchange between our Elders who retain critical cultural information and the next generation of artists to increase and the sustainability of Indigenous ancestorial art, its designs, and historical significance and protect its integrity.
